Notes on a Spicy Squid Salad

To the 1.5-2.0 interested parties (and I am not specifying here who is the full party and whose party is potentially half-full; and anyway, the number refers to magnitude of interest, not out and out Personhood):

I herein submit that a Spicy Squid Salad was made.

Signed faithfully,

Some Further Field Notes:

It seems, from previous and present experience, that MasterGote has a masterful ability for Russification.

Russification (culinary): n. simplification, blandification, the process of removing flavor and increasing salt content, esp. without explicit prior intent on the part of MasterGote.

In this case, Russification of S.S.S. was achieved through a combination of methods. Including, but probably not limited to:
-the washing-out of seeds from all seven hot peppers called for in the recipe;
-the washing and not thoroughly drying of bay scallops and squid;
-the use, instead of a wok, of a dutch oven (obtained from MG's Russian mother via MG's Russian brother), the last two steps resulting not in an oily flash-fry complete with heady display of exploding squid tentacles, but in a liquescent stew accompanied by the niggling possiblity of undercooking resulting in subsequent collective heaving by the unsuspecting subjects of this culinary experiment.

To wit, a picture of the leftovers:

And a close-up to demonstrate the extent of the Russification:

Suffice it to say: my shirt bears the evidence of a delicious morning-after meal.

Ummm, over at our gote palace in Sunset Park, we have an extra skillet and we're also real close to BK Chinatown where woks are readily available. Next time you're over remind me that you tried to make a flash-fried salad in a dutch oven. I'll take care of the rest.

Also, on the Russification tip, I think you forgot to add mayonnaise and refrigerate that sucker to firm it up a little. Now that would have been delicious!

You know what? It WOULD have been better with mayonnaise. Everything is. Anyone who says otherwise is a hata.

So this is where Russians get their hearty appetites... MG, you once told me that Russian put mayonnaise in everything, who wouldn't?
